Babyn Pogar is a peak in the Gorgany Mountains that often goes unnoticed compared to its more popular names, but that’s precisely its charm. It’s located on the transition from the Sinyak Ridge toward the Stoly Pass and the trails that continue to Dovbushanka. Its altitude is listed as approximately 1,449 meters (some maps show lower values based on different measurement points, but 1,449 meters is most often used in peak descriptions).

This location is perfect for those who enjoy longer ridge walks, where you don’t just go “to one peak and back,” but rather enjoy the rhythm of the transition: forest → open areas → rocks → panorama → peace again. Babyn Pogar is usually found on ridge routes to Mount Sinyak (from Bukovel or Tatariv), so it’s often hiked in groups, not always realizing it’s a separate, named peak.

Babyn Pogar feels like a vast expanse. It has less of a resort vibe and more of a mountain character: winds, wild ridgelines, and the feeling that the Carpathian Mountains around you aren’t just a backdrop, but a real, living massif. While Sinyak is often considered “the first big mountain,” Babin Pohar often becomes that same extension when you want to venture a little further from the popular trail and see more.
