Mount Petros (2020 meters above sea level) is located in the Rakhiv district of the Zakarpattia region, in the northwestern part of the Chornohora massif, between the Sheshul (southwest) and Hoverla (east) mountains. A deep saddle separates Petros from Hoverla (the highest peak in Ukraine). The mountain consists of sandstones. Its western and southwestern slopes are very steep, with numerous stone placers; the northern and northeastern slopes are steep, with rocky ledges.

There are several marked tourist routes leading to the top of Petros:
- Green — from the village of Lazeshchyna (the distance from the Chillax hotel here is 10 kilometers) to the Kozmeshchyk tract, then — blue — through the Golovcheska meadow, the ascent takes on average 8 hours, the descent — 7 hours.
- Green — from the railway station Yasinya to the Shisa meadow, then — blue — through Mount Petrosul, the ascent takes 5 hours, the descent — 4 hours.

Mount Petros consists mainly of sandstones. It is covered mainly with subalpine vegetation: juniper Cossack, crocus Heufel, anemone oak, buttercup Carpathian, white butterbur, alpine edelweiss grow here. Along the way you can see juniper Siberian, rhododendron (locally called red rue), blueberry thickets and spruce-beech forests (up to an altitude of 1500-1600 meters). Roe deer and deer live on the slopes of the mountain. In the forest thickets there are many predators: foxes, lynxes, wolves and even bears.

The climate on Mount Petros is mostly moderate continental. It should be taken into account that in the middle of summer the weather often changes suddenly, thunderstorms, significant cold snaps and wet snow fall. The average temperature in summer is +14 °C, in winter the average temperature is –10 °C, often dropping to –25 °C. The snow on the top of the mountain often does not melt until mid-June. In winter there are often heavy snowfalls, accompanied by strong gusts of wind, so it is not recommended to climb this mountain in the winter season (especially for beginners who do not have experience in winter hiking).

At the top of Mount Petros there is a chapel – a wonderful place for both prayer and photo sessions. The landscapes opening from this peak are striking in their magnificence. From here you can see not only the most picturesque panoramas of the Montenegrin ridge, but in clear weather – even without binoculars you can see the legendary Transylvania region in Romania.
