If you are looking for a not too long, but very interesting route, the “Dovbush path” in Yaremche is ideal (at the same time, do not confuse the “Dovbush path” and “Dovbush rocks”, which are located near the village of Bubnyshche, Dolinsky district, Ivano-Frankivsk region, because that this is a completely different area).
The beginning of the Dovbush path in Yaremche is relatively close to our guest house “Chillax” (about 30 kilometers along the highway). The length of the trail is about 4 kilometers, the duration of the transition is up to 4 hours, the height above sea level is 570-800 meters. The route is marked.
The natural memorial complex “Dovbush path” is located within the Carpathian National Natural Park and was created in places associated with the name of the leader of the Carpathian opryshki (robbers – participants in the popular insurrectionary movement) – Oleksa Dovbush. The route starts in the protected tract “Dribka” (located in the city of Yaremche), not far from the Dovbush stone; lies between the rocks and goes to the Gorgan Zaprutsky ridge.
Along the entire path, you will see the thematic sculptural compositions of the master Darius Grabar. In addition to these sculptures, there are information stands on the route, telling in detail about Oleks Dovbush and opryshki. So it is quite possible to do without a guide; although, of course, with a professional guide, such an excursion to historical places will be much more interesting.
The trail passes through the places where in 1738-1745 Oleksa Dovbush with his opryshki hid after raids on local feudal lords and the rich. Along the way you will see a group of large rocks, some of which are up to 20 meters high. These are the local rocks of Dovbush (do not confuse them with the “rocks of Dovbush” near the village of Bubnishche).
Perhaps one of the most interesting places on the Dovbush path is the caves, in one of which, according to legend, a chest with stolen gold is hidden. According to legend, the entrance to this cave can be seen only once a year – on the night of Ivan Kupala. However, you still won’t be able to take possession of the treasure: the treasures are enchanted, and the one who takes them out of the cave will turn to stone as soon as the gold flashes in the moonlight.
The Dovbush path complex is located on the right bank of the Prut River. Viewing platforms offer very picturesque views of the Prut canyon and the village of Yamna. A mixed forest grows here, where the main species are white fir, forest beech, spruce, there are also common hornbeam and relict pine. To the left and to the right of the trail you can see raspberry bushes, blackberries, and blueberries are common at the end of the route.
The animal world is also rich here; if you are lucky, you can see: Carpathian squirrel, fox, wild boar, roe deer, dormouse (hazel and forest), badger, ferret, woodpecker, jay, hazel grouse, as well as many other animals and birds. Although the Dovbush path forms a circle, it is not necessary to go down to the starting point. You can end your walk at the famous Probiy waterfall or the souvenir market in Yaremche. Do not worry – you will not get lost, because hundreds of thousands of tourists who have been here before have trodden good paths there 😀
