Mount Moloda is the Gorgany without the rush. Its elevation is 1,723 m (sometimes listed as 1,723.6 m), and it’s a great choice for anyone who wants a “real mountain day” with wide panoramas — without crowds and resort noise. Moloda isn’t as hyped as the popular peaks near Bukovel, which is why you’re more likely to catch silence here than other people’s conversations at rest stops.

The most convenient way to plan the hike is from the Osmoloda area. From there, routes naturally lead into the right valleys and polonynas (mountain meadows), and the trail feels like a true journey: first through forest, then across more open terrain, and finally along ridge sections where that signature Gorgany landscape appears. Closer to the summit you may encounter rocky scree and crooked dwarf pines, but overall Moloda often feels gentler than the most “rock-heavy” objectives — while still offering very generous views.

Moloda has its own character as well: some slopes are steep and hard to traverse, and the upper zone is more open, with patches of scree and mountain pine (dwarf pine). That openness is exactly why the summit panoramas feel especially wide. The closest starting point is Osmoloda, and on clear days you can easily spot nearby landmarks like Yaiko-Perehinske and Grofa.
Another highlight of this route is the polonyna atmosphere. Even when there’s no active farming around, these meadows keep their mood: space, quiet, and a broad horizon. In clear weather, you can see the rolling lines of the Gorgany ridges, and farther away — other mountain massifs you’ll want to study for a long time. This is the kind of hike you return from not as an “exhausted hero,” but as someone who simply had a very good day in the mountains.

If you’re planning Dovbushanka or a combined hike with Vedmezhyk, Moloda can be a calmer alternative with the same Gorgany vibe — polonynas, space, and silence. And for those just starting to explore the Gorgany, Mount Dovha or Babyn Pohar can be a great warm-up — after which Moloda feels like a natural next step.
