Zhenets waterfall (also called Zhenetsky Huk) is located on the territory of the Carpathian National Natural Park, on the Zhenets River (which is the left tributary of the Prut) – this is on the Gorgany mountain range, between the massifs of the Khomyaka-Sinyaka and Yavornyk ridges, near the villages of Tatariv and Mykulychyn (Nadvirna district, Ivano-Frankivsk region).

It is worth noting that this single-cascade waterfall was formed in the Zhenets Gorge relatively recently – in the middle of the last century, the reason for its appearance was a severe flood on the Zhenets River. It is located at an altitude of approximately 900 meters above sea level. Water falls from a height of 15 meters. The name Huk was given to the waterfall by local residents because of the strong noise and roar emitted by the falling water.

The Zhenetskyi waterfall looks especially original in winter, when it partially freezes and the rocks are covered with sparkling ice, under which water still flows. In the sun, ice looks like real crystal. This waterfall also has a unique enchanting appearance during snow melting and after heavy rains, when water, in addition to the main flow, rolls down the cliff in thin threads, forming several more mini-waterfalls nearby. But in any other season, and in any weather, Zhenetskyi Huk looks stunningly beautiful – it really is a real miracle of nature!

There are several observation platforms around the waterfall where you can comfortably relax and have a snack: there are many wooden tables and benches in different places. There are small but very reliable bridges across the stream, from which an ideal panorama opens up for photo and video shooting. There is also a souvenir market near Huk. In addition to all kinds of souvenirs, they offer mulled wine from local wines, Carpathian tea with mountain honey or coffee with various seasonings and, of course, various Hutsul dishes.

You can get to the Zhenets Waterfall in several ways. From our hotel “Chillax” to Zhenetsky Huk is about 20 kilometers. Part of this path can be driven by car (to the village of Tatariv and further along the highway to the north-west), and the rest of the path can be walked. A visit to the Zhenetskyi Waterfall will surely be something you will remember for many years!
